Hi Parents,
The state of Texas has recently passed a new law SB12 that goes in to effect Sept 1.

This new law requires parental consent for Medical and Mental Health services for non emergency situations on campus. Please check your emails and log in to School Mint to access and sign these forms.

These are due ASAP as the law will affect how we can service students starting Monday.

Vanguard Academy's Dance Teams have kicked off the summer with Dance Camp. The first three days were dedicated to Officers Camp, followed by three days of Line Camp. Their growth in leadership, technique, and performance quality was truly inspiring to witness. The Beethoven, Rembrandt, and Van Gogh dancers trained with dedication, energy, and focus. It was a rewarding experience that not only strengthened their dance abilities, but also their bond as a team. The pictures reflect the energy and spirit our dancers brought to camp. We’re incredibly proud of their commitment and can’t wait to carry this momentum into the upcoming school year.

Vanguard Academy is open 7:30 am to 6:00 pm Monday through Thursday and closed on Fridays. The district will be closed the week of June 30th through July 7th and will return on July 14th. Our modified work scheduled will run through Friday, July 25th. We resume regular work hours, Monday through Friday, 8 am to 5 pm, on Monday, July 28th.

Edinburg, TX — Vanguard Academy is proud to announce that Alan Sanchez, a dedicated and talented member of the Beethoven Secondary Gladiator Band Program, has been named a UIL Outstanding Performer at the 2025 UIL Texas State Solo & Ensemble Contest. This prestigious recognition places him among the top 2% of more than 25,000 student musicians who participated statewide—making it one of the highest honors a high school music student can receive in Texas. As a recipient of this distinguished title, Alan will be awarded the UIL State Champion Medal, a symbol of musical excellence, dedication, and superior performance. This marks a historic moment for Vanguard Academy and Beethoven ECHS, as Alan Sanchez becomes the first student in school history to receive this elite designation. His achievement is a testament not only to his personal commitment and passion for music, but also to the strength and growth of the Gladiator Band Program. “We are incredibly proud of Alan and all that he has accomplished,” said Abel Ocañas, Head Band Director at Vanguard Academy - Beethoven Secondary . “He continues to set a high standard for our program and serves as an inspiration to his peers and future generations of student musicians.” This outstanding milestone caps off an exceptional year for Alan and the Gladiator Band. Congratulations to our Rembrandt Secondary Seniors who worked diligently to complete their requirements and obtained their nationally recognized South Texas College Certified Phlebotomy Technician Certification, and to a few more that went the extra mile and also obtained their Certified Clinical Medical Assistant Certification. Vanguard Parents: May 12th–16th is Mental Health Awareness Week at Vanguard Academy. We’re excited to invite our families to join us as we recognize Mental Health Awareness Month with a special week of engaging activities and daily themes from May 12th–16th.

Vanguard Academy scheduled a Tax Free Day on May 9, 2025. It is a great opportunity for Vanguard Parents to visit our Central office during our Discounted Uniform Sale from 8am to 8pm.

Vanguard Academy celebrates our school nurses across our district. As healers, comforters, and role models, our school nurses do their job well and rise up to the challenge of caring for our students everyday. They help our district by increasing attendance, enforcing federal law, helping staff health, and improving academic performance. Help us ensure that our school nurses get the recognition they deserve! National School Nurse Day was created to give them celebrate them and thank them for taking care of our children and advocating for improved health services in schools.
